As the weather gets warmer, landscaping and home improvement projects begin.

We want to remind residents who might be planning to dig anywhere on their property to contact Ontario One Call at least one week before digging.

There are buried infrastructure all over and some might be just below the surface. No matter the scope of the project, or how shallow you plan to dig, contact Ontario One Call at 1-800-400-2255 or through their website to have buried cables, pipes and wires located so you can dig safely. If you have hired a contractor, make sure your contractor has contacted Ontario One Call.

Requesting locates before starting to dig will not only keep you and others safe from underground infrastructure, but it’s also the law. It’s a free service and available 24/7.

Note: The locate request does not replace the need for a building permit. Before undergoing any type of work on your property, check with the town’s Building & Inspection Service at to see if a building permit is required.
