Technical Services

Under the immediate supervision of the Chief Building Official, the successful applicant is responsible for the study and analysis of construction plans for recommendation to the Chief Building Official for the issuance of construction or renovation permits and is responsible for required inspections in compliance with the Building Code and in accordance with the applicable policies and by-laws.



-                   Excellent capacity to communicate orally and verbally in French and English. The work environment is francophone.

-                   Post-secondary Diploma in architecture or equivalent

-                   In the process of obtaining or hold the Chief Building Official (CBO) certification under the Ontario Building Code Act

-                   Experience in the field of construction and inspection

BY-LAW OFFICER - 2022-05-25 (extension)

(Full time permanent position)

Under the supervision of the Building Chief Official, the Officer is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury’s municipal by-laws and provincial laws related to public safety.


Skills and knowledge

·         Certification of Municipal Law Enforcement Officer or in the process of obtaining

·         An asset, Property Standard Certificate (Ontario Association of Property Standards Officer)

·         Thorough knowledge of construction standards, combined with experience in interpreting and enforcing municipal by-laws, legal court procedures, laws and regulations

·         Managing multiple files simultaneously, demonstrate an analytical mind, great organizational skills, an ease in writing detailed reports and a good team spirit

·         Great ability to resolve conflicts and promote the integrity of legislation and regulations for the overall image of the Council and of the municipality

·         Responsibility to enforce laws and regulations, be able to represent authority, demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times.

Reporting to the Director of Public Works and Engineering, the candidate participates in the sound management of the Technical Services capital projects and respects rigorous professional standards in order to ensure safety and public wellbeing. Plays an advisory role in the infrastructure projects management.



·        Defines needs by drafting technical quotes for collaborative tenders and evaluates bids with the various departments involved.

·        Supervises and inspects the work to ensure the quality of the material and respect of the contract’s conditions.

·        Provides an advisory role in maintaining asset records and long-term planning.

·        Participates in the preparation of Technical Services capital budgets.

·        Prepare any grant or funding application that would apply to planned or approved projects.

·        Ensures proper management of the implementation of work, delivery and deadlines of projects.

·        Acts as a Project Manager for major projects in the municipality.

·        Update our capital management structure as well as other relevant electronic files.

Reporting to the Manager of Municipal facilities, the General Helper assists regular staff in the clean up, preparation of recreational areas, repairs and maintenance of facilities, properties and equipment. Certification for Water Treatment and Distribution and Wastewater Treatment


Under the authority of the Superintendent of the Environmental Service, the operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (treatment and distribution) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The operator is also responsible to monitor and operate computerized controlled systems and related equipment in the Treatment Plant.  He executes his work in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario.

Willing to fight fires, respond to emergency calls and perform dispatch functions within a team working environment? Are you bilingual and able to clearly communicate in French both with teammates and citizens? Do you care about citizens’ safety and enjoying fire prevention? Are you able to work shifts in rotation, including nights, weekends and public holidays? Join our dedicated team of career firefighters and volunteer firefighters in protecting our citizens in emergency situations.  It’s minimally one position performing firefighter’s replacements.  When permanent or temporary firefighter vacancy occurs, the 7th firefighter can be assigned to do the appropriate replacement


Qualifications and requirements

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD (external continious posting)

(part time position, on call)

 Competition: BRIG

Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.


  • Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
  • Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
  • Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
  • Collaborate in school safety campaigns
  • Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor    (e.g. special events)
