What you should know

Criminal record check

You will be required to work with vulnerable groups of the population. Thus, all applicants must provide a criminal record vulnerable sector check on the day of the interview.

To obtain your criminal record check, you must contact your district police. It takes time, thus your request must be made well before the interview.

Reporting to the Public Works’ Superintendent, the General Helper assists regular staff in sidewalk repairs, asphalt patching and resurfacing work.  He also assists operators in various tasks such as street marking, cleaning and disinfecting workplaces, wash trucks and any other tasks requested by the superintendent. You will also be required to work outdoors often despite the weather.






You are known for your manual skills, versatility, initiative and responsibility.

Human Resources Advisor

(Temporary position for a minimum of 6 months)


Under the supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for the day-to-day application of different human resources processes, for supporting staff in matters concerning human resources, and for the implementation of an integrated payroll and human resources system.


Main Tasks





  • Take part in the entire staffing process

  • Coordination of internal staffing (revision of pay scales, annual review – maintenance of pay equity)

  • Take part in maintaining healthy workplace relationships

  • Write work descriptions

  • Be the contact person for the implementation of an integrated payroll and human resources system

  • Manage payroll when payroll agent is absent

  • Oversee health and safety in the workplace and participate in workplace health and safety committees

  • Counsel managers on disciplinary measures, performance management, departures and other legal aspects

  • Be the contact person for workplace relationships

  • Set up appropriate mechanisms to monitor attendance

  • Update HR procedures, policies and guidelines


    Job Requirements


  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position

  • Member of the CRHA or HRPA an asset

  • Experience in managing payroll, an asset

  • Knowledge of current Microsoft Office Suite

  • Experience in the implementation of an integrated system, an asset

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English (French working environment)

Class III in Water Treatment and Distribution and Wastewater Treatment


(Full-time unionized position)




Under the authority of the Superintendent of the Environmental Service, the operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (treatment and distribution) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The operator is also responsible to monitor and operate computerized controlled systems and related equipment in the Treatment Plant.  He executes his work in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario.






  • Shifts including week ends




  • High School Diploma

  • Possess the appropriate classification in Water Distribution as per the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario’s regulations or the equivalent

  • Have four (4) years of relevant experience

  • Manual skills in mechanic and equipment maintenance

  • Ability to read and interpret control devices

  • Knowledge and experience in laboratory

  • Knowledge in computers (EXCEL and SCADA System)

  • Be on call

  • Must live within 15 minutes of the workplace

Recreational Activities Monitor – Sports Complex

(Part time non-unionized position, flexible schedule)

The Recreational Activities Monitor reports to the Recreation and Tourism Coordinator. The successful candidate monitors skating activities (on the rink and surrounding), multifunctional room activities and participate to all activities related to the sports library.


Main Tasks


  • Monitors all skating activities on the rink and enforces rules to ensure user safety

  • Monitors all activities in the multifunctional room and enforces rules and schedules in order to ensure user safety

  • Ensures the overall cleanliness & equipment storage

  • With the help of the Information Desk employees and in accordance with the procedures, ensures the loan & return of the sports library equipment.




  • Comfortable on skates

  • Basic knowledge of racquet sports

  • Must be bilingual (French and English)

  • Initiative and interpersonal skills

  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD (external continious posting)

(part time position, on call)

 Competition: BRIG

Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.


  • Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
  • Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
  • Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
  • Collaborate in school safety campaigns
  • Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor    (e.g. special events)


  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
  • Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
  • Excellent visual and hearing acuity
  • Physical condition necessary (standing work)
  • Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset

$24.49 hourly


Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.

Qualification Process
