What you should know

Criminal record check

You will be required to work with vulnerable groups of the population. Thus, all applicants must provide a criminal record vulnerable sector check on the day of the interview.

To obtain your criminal record check, you must contact your district police. It takes time, thus your request must be made well before the interview.

The Recreation and Culture Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Aquafitness Instructor to plan and instruct aquatic fitness classes at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex.

BY-LAW OFFICER

 

 (Full time temporary position)

variable schedule of 40 hours per week (day, evening, weekend)

 

 

 

Under the supervision of the Chief Building Official, the Officer is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury’s municipal by-laws and provincial laws related to public safety.

 

 

 

Skills and knowledge

 

  • Certification of Municipal Law Enforcement Officer or in the process of obtaining

  • An asset, Property Standard Certificate (Ontario Association of Property Standards Officer)

  • Thorough knowledge of construction standards, combined with experience in interpreting and enforcing municipal by-laws, legal court procedures, laws and regulations

  • Managing multiple files simultaneously, demonstrate an analytical mind, great organizational skills, an ease in writing detailed reports and a good team spirit

  • Great ability to resolve conflicts and promote the integrity of legislation and regulations for the overall image of the Council and of the municipality

  • Responsibility to enforce laws and regulations, be able to represent authority, demonstrate tact and diplomacy at all times. 

     

    Other requirements

 

  • Hold a postsecondary diploma in construction, building inspections or related field

  • Three to five years of experience in a related field

  • Hold a level I of the Ontario Association of Property Standards Officer, an asset

  • Hold a valid Class G Driver’s License in good standing

  • Excellent knowledge of French and English mandatory (oral and written). Work environment is francophone

  • Experience in the interpretation and application of Municipal By-Laws

  • Carried out community patrols, publics security or any other relevant experience

  • Knowledge of investigation practices and procedures

  • Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Reporting to the Manager of Municipal facilities, the General Helper assists regular staff in the clean up, preparation of recreational areas, repairs and maintenance of facilities, properties and equipment. Part of your duties will be to attend municipal facility operations, transport equipment, furnishings, or equipment for special events within the Town. You will also be required to work outdoors for the maintenance of municipal, sports and recreational installations.

Reporting to the Direction of Recreation and Tourism, the successful candidate will be responsible, in the evening, for the activities related to the information desk at the Sports Complex, including customer service, providing information, responding to phone calls, completing various rental contracts, coordinates the implementation of contracts and follow ups.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • High School Diploma

  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience (cashier and customer service).

  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to resolve customer inquiries in an effective manner.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while being an effective member of a team.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple timelines and assignments in order to meet deadlines in a very demanding customer service focused environment.

  • Excellent bilingual (French and English) communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders and the public.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Suite skills with the ability to manipulate data and create complex spreadsheets.

  • Knowledge of Amilia Registration software, an asset.

OPERATOR – ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE

Certification for Water Treatment and Distribution and Wastewater Treatment 

Under the authority of the Superintendent of the Environmental Service, the operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (treatment and distribution) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The operator is also responsible to monitor and operate computerized controlled systems and related equipment in the Treatment Plant.  He executes his work in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario.

 Requirements

-                High School Diploma

-                Possess the appropriate certification as per the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario’s regulations or the equivalent

-                Have two (2) years of relevant experience

-                Manual skills in mechanic and equipment maintenance

-                Ability to read and interpret control devices

-                Knowledge and experience in laboratory

-                Knowledge in computers (EXCEL and SCADA System)

-                Be on call on rotation

-                Must live within 25 minutes of the workplace

-                Hold a valid driver’s licence

-           Bilingualism (French and English).  Please note that the working environment is French.

 Salary

This full-time permanent unionized position has a salary wage starting at 23.11$ according to the Collective Agreement presently in force. Note that the salary is adjusted upon obtaining new certifications – classes 1-4 in the different skill area.

SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD (external continious posting)

(part time position, on call)

 Competition: BRIG

Reporting to the Deputy Clerk, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.

RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
  • Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
  • Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
  • Collaborate in school safety campaigns
  • Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor    (e.g. special events)

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
  • Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
  • Excellent visual and hearing acuity
  • Physical condition necessary (standing work)
  • Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset
  • First aid training, an asset
  • Autonomy

SALARY :

$24.49 hourly

NORMAL HOURS OF WORK

Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
