Municipal Council
The current Council of the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury, elected on October 24, 2022 for a four-year term, is composed of a mayor and six councillors elected by all citizens, the City not being divided into wards.
Next Municipal Elections
The next municipal elections for the Town of Hawkesbury will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026.
Once elected, Council members serve a four-year term.
Positions to be Filled
Eligible voters will elect several different positions, including:
- One (1) Mayor
- Six (6) Councillors
- One (1) School Board Trustee (elected by general election) – One person elected for the Township of Champlain, the Township of East Hawkesbury, the Town of Hawkesbury, and the Township of Alfred and Plantagenet.

Training for candidates
April 22, 2026, 6:00 p.m.

Every property is assigned to a school board by default, whether you are an owner or a tenant. If you do not make a choice, your support is automatically directed to the English Public school board.
Update your school support designation
Property owners and tenants should verify their school support designation and, if necessary, update it by June 1, 2026, to ensure they are correctly registered on the Preliminary List of Electors for the municipal and school board elections on October 26, 2026.
