Event report - floods 2019

As a result of heavy rains and rapid snowmelt, the Town of Hawkesbury has been advised of the risk of failure of the Bell Falls Dam on the Rivière Rouge that could cause damage to the Ottawa River in the municipality of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge.

The Town of Hawkesbury wishes to inform its citizens that it is not concerned for its sector, but continues to monitor the situation very closely. Being in constant communication with Emergency Management Ontario, she remains ready to respond if necessary.

Residents should stay away from fast-moving rivers and streams and regularly check updated messages about spring weather conditions.

All new developments will be issued to the population as quickly as possible.

Telmatik - Alert and Communication Service

As part of its emergency plan and eager to offer an effective tool of good quality to its citizens, the Town of Hawkesbury has acquired an alert and communication system service WITH NO USER FEE FOR THE CITIZENS.

Opportunités Prescott and Russell Opportunities

The main findings and the regional action plan of the Opportunités Prescott et Russell Opportunities survey were unveiled on February 20, 2019 during the monthly Council meeting of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Representing the opinion of 563 local business owners from all eight Prescott and Russell municipalities, the 100 page document provides an overview of local businesses and their future plans, as well as the regional workforce and business climate.

Our final report was submitted to us last week, by the United Counties of Prescott & Russell’s Economic Development department.

Clément Street retaining wall reconstruction

The Town of Hawkesbury is making every effort to resolve the situation concerning the retaining wall along the sidewalk of Clément Street. In order to keep you informed, you will find regular updates concerning this situation here. 

Improvements to the Hawkesbury Parks

The Town of Hawkesbury wishes to inform its citizens that improvements are currently being undertaken in the following municipal parks: Old Mill, Cadieux, Larocque and Sidney beginning on August 7, 2018.

New play structures will be installed in September 2018.
