We are pleased to announce the plantation of 50 trees on the Hawkesbury territory! This project was undertaken as a collaborative effort between the COMZAC-BIA and the Town of Hawkesbury.
The majority of these trees were planted on municipal properties along the south side of Chenail blvd, previously industrial lands. A commemorative plaque will also soon be installed.
The plantation itself was carried out over several days with the help of volunteers from ESCRH, the community, COMZAC-BIA and employees of the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.
In an effort to ensure a sustainable plantation that the community can enjoy for decades to come, multiple varieties of trees were carefully chosen according to their adaptability to local conditions.
This project was made possible by a $10,000 grant from Tree Canada and sponsored by U-Haul. Grants such as these are part of their continued effort to support community-based greening initiatives across Canada.
Keep an eye out for other greening projects planned in Hawkesbury, including the planting of trees and shrubs at Place des Pionniers this fall.
