This year, the activities surrounding Canada Day will be different from the festivities of previous years. The town first has opted for a new location to hold the festivities this year. In partnership with the Welcoming Francophone Communities project, the festivities surrounding July 1, 2022, will take place as part of the Multicultural Festival which will be held over several days. More than a hundred artists, some of whom are internationally renowned, will perform on two outdoor stages and in cultural stops in the heart of the town.
For the 2022 edition, our festivities are moving to Pioneers’ Park. This site, which is more central and within our town centre, will allow festivalgoers to get there more easily. The move also ensures better public safety since visitors will no longer need to cross the bridge, a major artery that leads to Chenail Island. In previous years, wind, rain, stage placement, and traffic jams all contributed to a major risk of security issues, especially after the Canada Day fireworks.
On July 1 around 9:45 p.m., we made sure to impress you with exceptional fireworks. These will reach over 150 meters so you can observe them no matter where you are in Hawkesbury… and elsewhere! As they say: Let’s have a blast!
