OE – 2026-02-05 – Firefighter (full-time) – Fire Department

Do you live within Town limits, or are you willing to live with Town limits or a reasonable distance from the fire station to respond to calls after hours?
Join our dedicated team of career and part-time firefighters in protecting our citizens through public education, fire prevention, and emergency response situations. This position is nominally called a Relief Firefighter and will predominantly be assigned to one of two shifts working 12-hour days shifts on rotation but may be moved to cover extended absences on either shift. Call backs do happen outside of work hours for emergency calls.
Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements
• Must be fluently bilingual (French and English, oral / written)
• Must be eighteen (18) years of age
• Hold a High School Diploma or equivalent (preference given to graduates of a pre-service firefighter program or equivalent)
• Hold a valid DZ Ontario driver’s license or equivalent
• Have five (5) years’ experience in a structural fire department
• Comply with the physical requirements of the employment (including a swim test)
• Comply with medical requirements at the time of the medical exam
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1001 Firefighter level 2 or the Quebec Education Ministry Firefighter Diploma 5191 or 5322
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 472 or 1072 Hazardous Materials Operations level or the Quebec Education Ministry Firefighter Diploma 5191 or 5322
• Current First Responder & BLS certificate from the Canadian Red Cross or equivalent
• Reside within a non-prejudicial delay to emergency calls and reside for all the employment duration and be available to respond to emergency calls within prescribed time limit.

• Trades experience (e.g. construction, framing, roofing, HVAC, electrical)
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1002 Pump operator or the Quebec Education Ministry Firefighter Diploma 5191 or 5322

• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1035 Public Fire and Life Safety Educator 1 or the Quebec Education Ministry Firefighter Diploma 5191 or 5322
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1021 Fire Officer level 1
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1041 Emergency Services Instructor level 1 or the Quebec Education Ministry Firefighter Diploma 5191 or 5322
• IFSAC or PRO BOARD NFPA 1225 Emergency Telecommunicator level 1 & 2
• IMS or ICS 100 and 200.
REMUNARATION

OE - 2026-02-05 - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - Public Safety / Fire Department
Under the authority of the Director of Public Safety / Fire Chief, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the office and provides administrative support to the Director of Public Safety / Fire Chief, including supporting the Fire Department, Fire Dispatch Centre, Bylaw Department and Emergency Management. The Administrative Assistant also assists with confidential matters under delegated authority, including personnel files, data entry for payroll processing purposes, taking minutes in meetings, assisting with preparation and translation of confidential documents, and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Fluently bilingual in English and French (writing, reading, and speaking)
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preference given to post-secondary education)
- Hold a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar position. Any combination of training and experience will be considered
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a dynamic environment
- Excellent ability to coordinate service activities
- Great writing skills to prepare various letters, reports and documents
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent computer skills with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new software platforms and packages

Remuneration

OE - 2026-01-29 – OPERATOR - ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE
Under the authority of the Superintendent of the Environmental Service, the operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (treatment and distribution) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The operator is also responsible to monitor and operate computerized controlled systems and related equipment in the Treatment Plant. He executes his work in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario.

Salary
This full-time permanent unionized position has an hourly wage starting at $25.76 as operator in training according to the Collective Agreement presently in force. Note that the salary is adjusted upon obtaining new certifications – class 1-4 in the different skill area. OE-2026 - Recreational Activities Monitor – Sports Complex
The Recreational Activities Monitor reports to the Recreation and Tourism Coordinator. The successful candidate monitors skating activities (on the rink and surrounding), multifunctional room activities and participate to all activities related to the sports library.
Main Tasks
- Monitors all skating activities on the rink and enforces rules to ensure user safety
- Monitors all activities in the multifunctional room and enforces rules and schedules in order to ensure user safety
- Ensures the overall cleanliness & equipment storage
- With the help of the Information Desk employees and in accordance with the procedures, ensures the loan & return of the sports library equipment.

The Information Desk Clerk I reports to the Director of Recreation and Tourism. The successful candidate performs customer service duties at the front desk of the Sports Complex, monitors activities of participants, issues equipment and provides program and membership information to customers.
Requirements
- Secondary education (in progress or completed)
- Hold 6 months to a year of relevant experience (cashier, customer service)
- Ability to learn new computer software
- Hold a valid First Aid certificate, an asset
- To be available to work on weekdays and weekends shifts
- Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written. Working environment is francophone
Salary
This unionized position has a salary of $17.60 per hour.
In addition to their regular schedule, the chosen candidate must be available, in order to carry out last minute replacements or to fill-in for colleagues on leave. The schedule may be modified occasionally for special events.

OE-2026 - School Crossing Guard
Reporting to the Director of public safety, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
- Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
- Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
- Collaborate in school safety campaigns
- Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor (e.g. special events)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingualism (French and English)
- Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
- Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
- Excellent visual and hearing acuity
- Physical condition necessary (standing work)
- Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset
- First aid training, an asset

SALARY :
$28.38 hourly
NORMAL HOURS OF WORK
Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
