OE – 2025-10-17- FOREMAN - Public Works

Non unionized position, 40 hours/week

Reporting to the Director of public works and engineering, the Foreman of Public Works manages the Municipal Garage activities including roads, sanitary and storm sewer System, fleet maintenance, road signaling and lighting, and vacant land maintenance. As an engineering technologist, ensures compliance with professional standards in the management of municipal infrastructures and road network to protect the public’s health and safety. The Foreman has an advisory role in public works exploitation and road authority with the Municipality and the Director of public works and engineering. Responsible for the planning and implementation of all activities and resources required.

As a team leader, assures employee’s individual enhancement and development. In accordance with Municipal procedures and rules, Provincial and Federal Laws and Regulations, performs other duties as assigned by his immediate superior.

 Requirements

  • College degree in civil engineering or other relevant field.
  • Completion of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists' certification, or equivalent certification would be an asset.
  • Five (5) years of related experience, including Human Resources Management.
  • Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act and Environmental Protection Act.
  • Knowledge of Municipal Public Works, sewage, waste and clean water Legislation and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Occupational health and Safety Act; JHSC Certification an asset.
  • Fluently bilingual, French and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel Software.
  • Knowledge in project management; qualification in project management an asset.
  • Strong knowledge in Acquisition, Asset Management, Municipal and Civil Engineering.

Remuneration

This non-unionized full-time position (40h/week) has an annual pay rate as of March 30th, 2025, starting at $84 085. The Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury offers a full and interesting range of benefits.

OE-2025 - Recreational Activities Monitor – Sports Complex

Part time non-unionized position, flexible schedule

The Recreational Activities Monitor reports to the Recreation and Tourism Coordinator. The successful candidate monitors skating activities (on the rink and surrounding), multifunctional room activities and participate to all activities related to the sports library.

Main Tasks

  • Monitors all skating activities on the rink and enforces rules to ensure user safety
  • Monitors all activities in the multifunctional room and enforces rules and schedules in order to ensure user safety
  • Ensures the overall cleanliness & equipment storage
  • With the help of the Information Desk employees and in accordance with the procedures, ensures the loan & return of the sports library equipment.

Requirements

  • Comfortable on skates
  • Basic knowledge of racquet sports
  • Must be bilingual (French and English) 
  • Initiative and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Reliable, responsible, punctual and resourceful
  • Be in good physical shape

Salary

$ 17.20 hourly

OE-2025 - Lifeguard

Unionized position, Part-time, Variable hours (days and/or evenings and/of weekends)

The Recreation and Culture Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Lifeguard to supervised the indoor public pool

Schedule

  • Variable (days and or evenings and or weekends)

Requirements

  • Current National Lifeguard Certification
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C
  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification, an asset
  • Reliable and responsible
  • Must be fluent in both English and French

Salary

$18.16 hourly, according to the Collective Agreement presently in force.

OE-2025 - Information Desk Clerk I- Sports Complex

Part-time seasonal position, a minimum of 15 hours/month

The Information Desk Clerk I reports to the Director of Recreation and Tourism. The successful candidate performs customer service duties at the front desk of the Sports Complex, monitors activities of participants, issues equipment and provides program and membership information to customers.

Requirements

  • Secondary education (in progress or completed)
  • Hold 6 months to a year of relevant experience (cashier, customer service)
  • Ability to learn new computer software
  • Hold a valid First Aid certificate, an asset
  • To be available to work on weekdays and weekends shifts
  • Bilingualism (French and English) oral and written.  Working environment is francophone

Salary

This unionized position has a salary of $17.20 per hour. 

In addition to their regular schedule, the chosen candidate must be available, in order to carry out last minute replacements or to fill-in for colleagues on leave.  The schedule may be modified occasionally for special events.

OE-2025 - Aquafitness Instructor

Unionized position, Part-time, Variable schedule (weekdays, weeknights)

The Recreation and Culture Department is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Aquafitness Instructor to plan and instruct aquatic fitness classes at the Robert Hartley Sports Complex.

Requirements

  • Certification and experience in aquafit
  • Current National Lifeguard Certification, an asset
  • Current General First Aid Certification with CPR-C
  • Available weekdays and week nights
  • Must be fluent in both French and English

Salary

$27.42 hourly, according to the Collective Agreement presently in force

OE-2025 - School Crossing Guard

Part-time position, On call, Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Director of public safety, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.

RESPONSIBILITY 

  • Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
  • Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
  • Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
  • Collaborate in school safety campaigns
  • Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor    (e.g. special events)

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bilingualism (French and English)
  • Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
  • Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
  • Excellent visual and hearing acuity
  • Physical condition necessary (standing work)
  • Having one (1) year of relevant experience with such clientele, an asset
  • First aid training, an asset
  • Autonomy

SALARY :

$28.38 hourly

NORMAL HOURS OF WORK

Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
