

Public Works Responsibilities
1. Road and transport infrastructure maintenance
- Road repairs: Pothole repairs, road resurfacing, pavement marking and bridge maintenance.
- Snow removal and salting: Management of snow removal, salting and sanding of roads in winter to ensure road safety.
- Sidewalk maintenance: Repair and maintenance of sidewalks, including accessibility for people with reduced mobility.
- Road signs and street lighting: Installation, maintenance and repair of road signs, traffic lights and street lighting.
2. Sanitary and stormwater sewer management
- Wastewater disposal: Management and maintenance of the road sewer systems.
- Stormwater management: Maintenance of drainage systems and retention basins to prevent flooding.
3. Green spaces and parks management (with the Recreation Department)
- Park maintenance: maintenance of parks, playgrounds, sports fields, paths and public gardens.
5. Construction and maintenance of public buildings (with the Installations team)
- Construction projects: Supervision of construction of new public buildings and renovation of existing structures.
6. Infrastructure planning and management
- Planning of infrastructure projects: Participation in the planning and design of new infrastructure projects to meet the growing needs of the community.
- Construction supervision: Supervision of contractors and construction work to ensure compliance with quality standards and schedules.
- Budget management: Management of infrastructure project budgets and resources to maximize efficiency and minimize costs.
7. Emergency management
- Emergency response: Respond to natural disasters, such as floods, snowstorms or earthquakes, by providing emergency services to repair critical infrastructure.
- Emergency planning: Developing and implementing emergency plans to ensure the continuity of public services in the event of a crisis.
Public works therefore plays a central role in maintaining and improving the infrastructures and services that are essential to the smooth running of our Town.
How do I report a pothole?
A pothole is repaired if the surface is larger than 100 cm2 and at least 8 cm deep.
Repair times vary according to circumference.
