Instructions for Use
Removing the tire from the rim:
- Place your bike's saddle on the stand and remove the wheel from your bike;
- Inspect the outside of the tire for glass or anything else poking out. Remove if found. Be careful not to injure yourself;
- Deflate the tire by pressing on the valve and allowing the air to escape completely;
- On the side opposite of the valve, insert one of the levers (do not use a screwdriver) between the tire and the rim. Turn along the tire bead, pushing gently with the other lever to release it from the rim (the edge of the tire you're trying to remove from the rim is called the bead);
- When one side is removed, remove the tire levers and pull the other bead off the rim;
- Inspect the inside of the tire for glass or anything else poking out. If there is a large hole in the tire, such that the inner tube can poke through, you may need to apply a temporary tire boot, and consider replacing the tire;
- Using your repair kit, follow the instructions provided to repair the inner tube.
Repairing the inner tube of your bicycle tire:
- Inspect rubber, plastic or cotton rim tape. Make sure all holes are covered;
- Replace one of the tire beads on the rim;
- Slightly inflate the inner tube, whether new or repaired. This will make the next steps easier;
- Place the valve through the proper hole on the rim;
- Slowly work the tube inside the tire and onto the rim;
- Put the other bead of the tire back on the rim. If possible, do not use tire levers to do this, use your hands instead;
- Once both beads are on the tire, make sure the tube doesn't stick out between the tire and the rim. Check both sides of the tire;
- Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure range;
- Re-install the wheel onto your bike.
Using the manual pump:
- Read the pressure range indicated on the side of the tire;
- Remove the cap from the tire valve. For Presta valves, loosen the tip of the valve;
- Connect the tire valve to the pump nozzle and flip the lever up;
- Using both hands, move the pump handle up and down. Stop when the desired pressure is reached;
- Flip down the nozzle lever and remove it from the tire;
- Replace the cap on the tire valve. For Presta valves, re-tighten the tip of the valve first;
- Now you can pedal. Happy riding!
