Garbage collection

Garbage bags or containers and recycling bins shall be put on your property at 1 meter from the curb or the sidewalk, no sooner than 5:00 p.m. the day prior to the collect. The daily collection will normally start at 6:00 a.m. Containers must not exceed 125 liters (28 gallons) or 80 pounds (36 kg) in total weight.

Curbside Restriction

The following items are not accepted at the regular curbside pick-up:

  • ashes, sawdust or combustible materials;
  • liquid or semi-liquid waste;
  • hay, straw and manure, grass clippings, garden materials, leaves, yard waste and tree limbs;
  • major appliances;
  • fences, fence posts;
  • hazardous waste, propane tanks;
  • tires;
  • construction or renovation debris;
  • large household furnishings;
  • crates or packing material;
  • automobiles or vehicle parts.

2021 Municipal campaign of the spring clean-up

A special collection of scrap, old furniture and anything not considered as household waste will take place according to the following schedule you can pdfdownload here.

Please note that the special collection will be done from the WEST END to the EAST END of town.

A special collection of scrap, old furniture and anything not considered as household waste will start in the week of April 26.

The rubbish must be deposited close to the sidewalk or the curb, but not on the street, during the weekend preceding the date of collection, no later than 6:30 a.m. on Monday morning in your sector only.

We remind you that a person who throws garbage or litter on a property of the Town or private property without the permission of the owner, commits an illegal act of waste disposal which is liable to a minimum fine of $500.

Tires, hazardous waste and construction/demolition waste WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Please note that the household hazardous waste collection will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021, from 8:30 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Hawkesbury Sewage Plant 815 Main Street East, Hawkesbury.

Please take note that the waste collection day previously scheduled on May 2 has been cancelled dur to the Covid-19 pandemic.
