The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) issues warnings for high heat or humidity that is expected to last at least two days. During this time, heat warning information is updated daily on the EOHU’s website to reflect the current status, and recommendations are provided for how local residents can protect themselves and others from heat illness.
The Medical Officer of Health declares a Heat Warning or Extended Heat Warning based on Environment and Climate Change Canada’s criteria for heat warnings, and in keeping with the provincial Heat Warning and Information System.
