Each year, Ontario celebrates Local Government Week during the third week of October to raise public and youth awareness about the critical role local governments play in our communities. This year, Local Government Week takes place from October 21 to 25.

Local Government Week is a great time to reflect on the essential services and responsibilities that local governments manage.

There are many ways to engage with your local government and stay up to date:

• Subscribe for Email Alerts: Be the first to know about Town news and events by subscribing to our newsletter.
• Subscribe to Bciti +: Have your government new at your fingertips with our new App available on App Store, Google Play or website.
• Follow Us on Social Media: Get timely updates by following us on Facebook, X(formerly Twitter) and Instagram.
• Attend Council Meetings: Council meetings are held on the second Monday of each month. Check our community calendar for meeting dates, agendas, and minutes. You can also watch live Council meetings on our YouTube page. Missed a meeting? You can watch past meetings anytime.
• Participate in Surveys: This year we have had two surveys to which participation was very satisfying. Showing democracy at it’s best. Share your input to help guide Town’s decisions.
• Attend Local Consultations: Keep an eye on local consultations, shared on our website, calendar and social media channels.
