Many people are getting rid of their face masks, wipes, and gloves by flushing them down the toilet, and it’s causing a surge in clogged pipes and sewage overflows. We had to make emergency actions last Sunday to unclog our pumps at the pumping station. Sewer clogs have become an expensive side effect of the pandemic.

The Town of Hawkesbury is asking people to stop flushing their disposable masks, wipes and gloves down the toilet. Please put them in your household garbage.
