Since mid-January 2020, the City of Hawkesbury has been following the evolution of the Covid-19 closely for you with daily updates, relevant links and documents to download.


Everyone has a role to play in reducing the risk of spreading COVID-19 - there is no option for anyone to opt out.

Social distancing is the key against Covid-19.

The lives of Hawkesbury's people, especially our community's most vulnerable citizens, is in your hands and will depend on your actions over the coming days and weeks.

Following instructions from the Government of Ontario, the Town of Hawkesbury maintains the closure of Town Hall, all dry facilities in all parks, the Sports Complex (multi room, skating rink, pool and other halls), the fire station, the water plant and the public works building, until further notice.

Public and social gatherings

Regardless of where you live in Ontario, social gathering limits will be expanded to up to 10 people. People must still practice physical distancing, by keeping at least two metres away from others outside of their direct household. This change to social gathering size will apply to people across the province,

Businesses and services permitted to reopen with proper health and safety measures in place in regions entering Stage 2 include:

  • Outdoor dine-in services at restaurants, bars and other establishments, including patios, curbside, parking lots and adjacent properties;
  • Select personal and personal care services with the proper health and safety measures in place, including tattoo parlours, barber shops, hair salons and beauty salons;
  • Shopping malls under existing restrictions, including food services reopening for take-out and outdoor dining only;
  • Tour and guide services, such as bike and walking, bus and boat tours, as well as tasting and tours for wineries, breweries and distilleries;
  • Water recreational facilities such as outdoor splash pads and wading pools, and all swimming pools;
  • Beach access and additional camping at Ontario Parks;
  • Camping at private campgrounds;
  • Outdoor-only recreational facilities and training for outdoor team sports, with limits to enable physical distancing;
  • Drive-in and drive-through venues for theatres, concerts, animal attractions and cultural appreciation, such as art installations;
  • Film and television production activities, with limits to enable physical distancing; and
  • Weddings and funerals, with limits on social gatherings to 10 people.

Extraordinary measures were adopted to reduce the financial impact of Covid-19 on Hawkesbury’s citizens:

  • Be it resolved to suspend the penalty fees for property taxes until May 31st, 2020 and;
  • Be it also resolved to delay until May 31st, 2020 the payments for user fees, water and sewer taxes, dog licenses and business licenses.

Fire Department

The station is currently closed to the public. However, the Fire Department is still operational 24/7, as usual.

This department is operational. To report a breakage or an event related to municipal infrastructure (roads, safe water, traffic, etc.).

In order to ensure the safety of the public and that of the municipal employees, the Town of Hawkesbury is canceling the Household hazardous waste collection scheduled for May 2 is also canceled, however the one scheduled on October 3, 2020 being maintained.

Garbage and recycling collections are carried out as usual.
