OE - 2025-02-20 - OPERATOR - ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICE
Under the authority of the Superintendent of the Environmental Service, the operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant (treatment and distribution) and the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The operator is also responsible to monitor and operate computerized controlled systems and related equipment in the Treatment Plant. He executes his work in accordance with the requirements established by the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario.

Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Possess the appropriate certification as per the Ministry of the Environment of Ontario’s regulations or the equivalent
- Have two (2) years of relevant experience
- Manual skills in mechanic and equipment maintenance, an asset
- Ability to read and interpret control devices
- Knowledge and experience in laboratory
- Knowledge in computers (EXCEL and SCADA System)
- Be on call on rotation
- Must live within 25 minutes of the workplace
- Hold a valid driver’s licence

Salary
This full-time permanent unionized position has an hourly wage starting at $25.13 as operator in training according to the Collective Agreement presently in force. Note that the salary is adjusted upon obtaining new certifications – class 1-4 in the different skill area.

OE – 2025-02-04 - Part-time Firefighter – Fire Department
Are you able to fight fires and respond to emergency calls day, night, and even on weekends? Do you like teamwork? Can you communicate clearly under difficult conditions and in a French-speaking work environment? Do you care about the safety of citizens and want to be involved in prevention? Join our Fire Department composed of firefighters who are dedicated to the protection of citizens by participating in prevention activities and by providing emergency services. Our firefighters have a strong sense of belonging to the Hawkesbury Fire Department. You could develop such a feeling as well. You will undergo a complete training to become a firefighter and you will obtain different IFSAC Certifications. In addition, the department's part-time firefighters will assist a full-time officer and receive a remuneration for external watches, providing a coverage for the community, and will also receive a steady income.
Qualifications and requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Ministry of Education.
- Proficiency in French (although French is the working language, English is mandatory).
- Possess a class G driver’s license. The DZ driver’s license is an asset. The DZ driver’s license must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
- Have a clean criminal record.
- Have a driving record of less than 6 demerit points.
- Be in good physical and medical condition compatible with firefighting required tasks.
- Have a minimum vision compatible with the firefighting required tasks.
- Live within a non-detrimental response time to emergencies and be available to respond to incidents, within a reasonable time.
- Be available to answer emergency incidents within a reasonable time.
Working in the area and available to respond to emergency calls during your shift is a major asset.
Certifications considered major assets
- Possess the Canadian Red Cross First Responder certificate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the following training: Ontario Incident Management System, Level 100.
- Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1001: Professional Qualification Standard for Firefighters, Level 1 and II, or equivalent.
- Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1072 or 472: Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction Responder Professional Qualifications Standard, Awareness or Operation Level.
Possess IFSAC or Pro Board NFPA 1002: Occupational Qualification Standard for Drivers and Operators – Pumper.

Dans le domaine de la gestion des ressources humaines, financières et matérielles, la personne titulaire:
- Agit à titre de personne supérieure immédiate auprès du personnel de la bibliothèque notamment quant à l’accueil, à l’intégration au travail, au contenu et à la répartition des tâches, au perfectionnement, à l’application des politiques de gestion des ressources humaines et de conditions de travail, et procède à l’évaluation du rendement des employés sous sa supervision. Elle ou il participe aussi au processus de sélection des ressources humaines en lien avec les besoins;
- Favorise une organisation du travail axée sur le travail d’équipe, de concertation et la collaboration des ressources humaines envers les objectifs établis;
- Planifie et détermine l’organisation du travail afin d’obtenir une utilisation efficiente des ressources humaines en lien avec les objectifs et les plans de travail retenus;

Qualifications requises

OE-2025-01-07 - GENERAL LABOUR - Municipal Facilities
(possibility of two positions available, depending on budget)
Reporting to the Foreman of Municipal Facilities, the person performs work that includes cleaning, preparation of recreational surfaces, repairs and maintenance of facilities, municipal properties and equipment.
Responsibilities of regular position
- Carry out housekeeping at the Sports Complex and in the various buildings of the Town
- Execute minor work
- Assist in the operation of municipal facilities
- Perform sports and recreational fields maintenance, such as grass cutting, lining and general upkeep
- Assist in the start-up, maintenance and shutdown of the swimming pool and splash pads
- Assist in the assembly and dismantling of venue rentals and various events
- Perform snow clearing operations for entrances, accesses and trails for municipal facilities and parks
- Provide supervision at the Sports Complex, Town Hall and various areas of the municipality
- Inform and directs the public, if necessary
- Participate in various projects of the Municipal Facilities Department
Requirements
- Secondary High School Diploma
- One (1) year of relevent experience
- Good physical condition
- Hold a valid driver’s licence class « G »

Remuneration

OE-2025 - Recreational Activities Monitor – Sports Complex
The Recreational Activities Monitor reports to the Recreation and Tourism Coordinator. The successful candidate monitors skating activities (on the rink and surrounding), multifunctional room activities and participate to all activities related to the sports library.
Main Tasks
- Monitors all skating activities on the rink and enforces rules to ensure user safety
- Monitors all activities in the multifunctional room and enforces rules and schedules in order to ensure user safety
- Ensures the overall cleanliness & equipment storage
- With the help of the Information Desk employees and in accordance with the procedures, ensures the loan & return of the sports library equipment.

The Information Desk Clerk I reports to the Director of Recreation and Tourism. The successful candidate performs customer service duties at the front desk of the Sports Complex, monitors activities of participants, issues equipment and provides program and membership information to customers.

OE-2025 - School Crossing Guard
Reporting to the Director of public safety, the school crossing guard ensures the safety and wellbeing of all pedestrians as they cross a street near primary schools in the territory of Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury.
RESPONSIBILITY
- Analyze the environment to determine the danger zone, assess and stop traffic safely
- Give children safety instructions and ensure they are respected
- Control dangerous behaviour of children during crossing of the street
- Collaborate in school safety campaigns
- Perform any other task related to its function and/or required by its immediate supervisor (e.g. special events)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingualism (French and English)
- Knowledge of traffic and safety rules
- Responsible, punctual, cautious and vigilent
- Excellent visual and hearing acuity
- Physical condition necessary (standing work)

NORMAL HOURS OF WORK
Depending on the street, crossing guards work between 7h30 and 9h00 in the morning also between 14h15 and 16h00 in the afternoon.
