Book Your Ceremony

It is important that you read all of the following points carefully before submitting your booking request for a civil ceremony. I acknowledge that ...

1. A reservation is not confirmed until the agreement is completed and returned to the registry office with full payment. The ceremony reservation fee does not include the marriage license fee, which can be obtained from the registry office for $150.00;
2. A pre-ceremony meeting must be held by telephone, virtually or in person with the officiant at least one week prior to the ceremony. The couple must attend this meeting together;
3. Candles, rice, confetti, bubbles, etc. are not permitted during the ceremony, or on the grounds of Hawkesbury Town Hall;
4. The applicants, as tenants of the Town Hall for the civil marriage ceremony, hereby agree to defend and indemnify the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury for any loss or damage suffered by their guests;
5. The Applicants agree that the Corporation of the Town of Hawkesbury shall not be liable for personal injury or damage, or theft or loss of any personal property of any person participating in the Applicants' invitation;
6. Applicants are responsible for the conduct and supervision of all persons admitted to the hall and will ensure that all event guidelines are strictly adhered to;
7. The Town Hall may only be used for civil wedding ceremonies if conducted by the Town Clerk or her appointees;
8. Because of the civil nature of the service, the ceremony must not refer to any particular or identifiable religious connotation or tradition;
9. All emergency exits must be unobstructed in the event of fire;
10. The Town Hall will be available for a maximum of 30 minutes only;
11. Date and/or time changes are permitted at no extra charge, provided the celebrant and hall are available. Requests for date and/or time changes must be received at least 48 hours prior to the originally scheduled date and time. An administration fee of $50.00 will be charged if the ceremony is cancelled before the scheduled date and time. No refunds will be made if the ceremony is cancelled less than 48 hours before the scheduled date and time, or if the applicant(s) fails to appear for the ceremony, or if the applicant(s) or witness(es) are under the influence of alcohol or other stimulants (at the sole discretion of the officiant);
12. The city does not have a private room or checkroom that can be used as a preparation room for the wedding couple or their guests;
13. Please note that the officiant is not authorized to accept gifts of any kind. It's our pleasure to be part of your special day!
14. Following the ceremony, the married couple will receive :
    a)Record of Consecration of Marriage (Please note that this document is not a marriage certificate. You can apply for a marriage certificate online 6 to 8 weeks after the ceremony at www.serviceontario.ca);
15. Applicants acknowledge that by signing this agreement, they are confirming the reservation of their ceremony date, and they also accept the guidelines set out in the agreement and must adhere to the requirements established for the provision of civil marriage services by the Town of Hawkesbury as outlined in by-law #42-2022.

It is important to note that the personal information on this form is collected under the authority of section 10 of the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. 2001, c. 25 and the Marriage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M. and will be used solely for the purposes of this application.  Questions concerning this collection should be addressed to the Registrar's Office.
